Sometimes a player can be drafted into what seems to the watching world to be a perfect landing spot, where a marriage of skill set and opportunity collide in gloriously serendipitous circumstances. This makes us, the fantasy community, happy and ready to invest in that player early and often. We can look past unremarkable athletic traits, and focus on a history of dominance at the college level. All the while happily thanking the footballing gods that allowed a specific team to draft the specific player. But what happens when that player does so little as a rookie that you have to hope for a second-year breakout from out of nowhere, like we saw with D.J. Chark? Is that the absolute best-case scenario, and is it really a profile worth chasing?
