Roster Constructions That Work in the FFPC: Taking Advantage of Wide Receiver Values in Actual Drafts

Finding elite WR talents even just a few rounds later in FFPC fundamentally changes how we’re able to build our teams. After winning the FFPC’s $125 Best Ball tournament in 2021, Conor O’Driscoll used the RV Roster Construction Explorer to show just how important combining winning structures is in that particular format. It is possible to get six elite WRs in BBMIV. But it often means passing on powerful structures like Anchor RB, Elite TE, and 2 QBs In The Window. How viable are those structures in 2023?

Anchor Running Back

If we understand Anchor RB to mean drafting one RB in the first three rounds then holding until at least Round 8 to take any more, the strategy has been very strong historically. Here’s what it’s done for win rates over the last six years when teams take six, seven, or eight RBs total:

Is this a good year for Anchor RB? There’s always running back value in the first two rounds, but the third round is especially littered with high-ceiling players in 2023:

Rhamondre Stevenson (one of the best values in all formats), Breece Hall, Jahmyr GibbsTravis Etienne, and Kenneth Walker have ADPs in the third round or later. Coming right around a steep WR tier break after Tee Higgins makes them even more appealing in cases where WRs have flown off the board. The value of RB in the first three rounds makes Anchor RB a great option this year.

Elite Tight End

The FFPC is a tight end premium format, making elite TE a borderline necessity. Here’s how waiting until after Round 4 to draft your first TE has fared there since 2017:
