Key Notes:

  • Points per game numbers reported in this tool will not tie to those in other RotoViz tools. This is because they are based on the targets included in the ‘Target Explorer’ tab. Certain plays included in this dataset may be excluded from the plays that contribute to official points per game. Further, points scored via rushing or passing are not included, and point deductions for fumbles are not considered.
  • Matchup ratings are based on the year and week range selected in the ‘Alignment Detail’ tab. The default range spans six weeks and it is recommended that a shorter time period is not used.
  • Defensive point per game allowed thresholds are based on the year and week range selected in the ‘Alignment Detail’ tab.
  • Points per game are based on the year and week range selected in the ‘Alignment Detail’ tab.
  • The defender listed in the ‘Target Explorer’ tab is the primary defender on the passing play as determined by SiS play charting. If a defender is not listed, this is because there was not a clear defender identified in the play charting process.
  • The ‘Alignment Detail’ tab lists players based on snap counts from the selected week range. As a result, players listed on the same row are not ‘matchups’.
  • ‘Matchup Ratings’ are determined by a process that reviews a receiver’s alignment allocation and how strong or weak a defense has been in covering fantasy relevant players, by position, when aligned across the formation. The higher the rating, the more favorable the matchup. Said differently, a WR that often lines up in the left slot, would earn a lower rating, all other things equal, when facing a defense that has been strong against fantasy relevant WRs when lined up in the left slot than when facing a defense that has been weak against fantasy relevant WRs lined up in the left slot.
  • The ‘Thresholds’ tab displays the number of WRs or TEs that a defense allows to score above the included thresholds on a per game basis. Additionally, the average receiving points earned against each defense by top-48 WRs and top-24 TEs are displayed.
  • Yellow boxes indicate that options are available to filter and sort the tables.
